Been reading Mark's books since before The soccer Field is empty became a single book. This one is sweet enough and an easy read but there are some jarring discrepancies/departures from reality. No one was as relaxed about homosexuality in rural Indiana in the 70s as the people in this book seem to be. It gives the book an unreal pollyannish quality. Partly, I'm guessing that Mark just isn't remembering accurately
