Jamaal Williams What are your thoughts on this thus far?

I love it! I really enjoy Allberry's writing style. I thought the main point of the first two chapters could really be summed up by "Discontentment in singleness can be rooted in a misunderstanding of the nature and character of God." In Chapter 1, his point on pages 25-26 about how Jesus calls us to the very thing that he lived was comforting and encouraging. Chapter 2 wad full of tough and convicting statements, starting with statement on page 37, “If we balk at the idea of singleness being a gift, it’s not because God has not understood us but because we have not understood him.” To say singleness isn't a good gift or one that I'd like the gift receipt for, actually implies something about our theology proper, that we don't understand the nature and Character of God. And the thing that I have been guilty of, on pg. 39 of believing that God would call me to something that he also wouldn't empower me for.

On the encouraging side of Chapter 2, I thought Pg. 41 was deeply encouraging, that in the midst of challenges we get to taste the goodness of God, and this encouragement goes to both married and single people, that we can see God's goodness in God's gifts to us.
