Rereading Gaddis in 2026 just reinforces how laser focused he was on the real issues for us all, and how clear it is we have barrelled headlong down the wrong path. And, while not this particular book, the whole A.I/Player Piano connection is something I am sure people have already noted.

Re-reading this because seems like I am re-reading my 3 favorites of his this year...This one remains just as brilliant and funny as ever.

Back to the fun after my little premature reviewing accident...

I still, after reading almost all of his novels, am repeatedly amazed at this sustained tone of his which sits somewhere between humour, rage and deep sorrow. It is truly unique.

Thank god we don't do depositions in this country, that's all I can say. I have been opposite some pretty terrible lawyers in my time during cross-examinations, and this is giving me flashbacks...

Put it like this: I have just spent the day wading through 20 judgments to put together a 15 page opinion for a client, and I still loved every single word of that god damn hilarious legal opinion. Gaddis is officially God. End of discussion.
