This definitely reads as a dissertation turned book but I shall keep going. Depressing to see “the more things change the more they stay the same” with the treatment of victims who aren’t deemed “pure” enough.

protip for the day is: do not start reading books on such heavy topics just before you go sleep. not a good idea.

super interesting though, childhood in victorian/edwardian times is something that always captured my attention... it’s easy to get enamoured in romanticised versions of green gables and the secret garden (which i love) and forget the horrors.
