It's been a while since I bought a new Harlequin Historical, but I was excited this was set in the Roaring 20s. Not as excited to see how cheaply they print these things now.

Overall this is pretty good escapist reading; a fun and super fast read so far, although I wish the hero would stop denying his feelings already. Come on duuuude. I also wish the editor had fixed several sentences with mismatched tenses. Anyway I'm ready to buy a flapper dress and start shimmying lol

This is a fun read. I'm reminded a little of The Girls at the Kingfisher Club, another book I read several years ago that's a 1920s retelling of my favorite fairy tale (The 12 Dancing Princesses).

Sarah Mac Did you get one where the lettering is fade’y? I’ve had a couple like that in the last year or so. Annoying.

MV Yes, a little bit on some pages! In other places the ink is a little on the heavy side. And the cover, pages and binding all feel ... Flimsy. I mean, I know it's a pulp, but they used to be better quality than this!

Sarah Mac Yeah, some of the bindings feel fragile. I don’t mind the ones where the binding is hard + the pages are soft & flexible to lay open easily, but the stiff pages + not-as-hard spine crease too easily. :/ I’m not sure why some of the typesettings are light/heavy; there’s no pattern so far that I can tell. Cheap, as you say. 🙄
