something i didn't know but makes total sense considering the patriachy and the history of it, but in the 50s (US, Davis doesn't clarify other countries) the model for women's prisons suggested that 'criminal' women could be 'decriminalised' be mastering domestic duties. frickin messed up man. apparently most of the women in the prison mentioned were in there for drug, alcohol related charges. i don't blame em.
