Margo added a status update
Hey friends,

Just thought I'd let you all know that I've quit Goodreads and moved over to The StoryGraph.

For the last half year I was using both sites, because The StoryGraph was still in beta, but now they've officially launched their website and app and it's absolutely wonderful! (See all the reasons why in the comments below)

If you want to join me over there, let me know! https://www.thestorygraph.com/

Margo Let me start by saying that you can easily move over all your Goodreads data (shelves, reviews, read dates...). It only takes a few clicks to transfer everything. So no need to worry about losing all the things you've tracked here over the years.

————————————

Now a list of reasons why TheStoryGraph is so great:
- Independant and black owned (not owned by Amazon like Goodreads is)
- Filter your books by mood and pace
- Great personalised recommendations that are based on your preferences
- Half stars ratings, even quarter stars if you want them
- Fun statistics to give you insights about your reading and how your habits might have changed over the years
- A 'Did Not Finish' option
- Content warnings
- Clean design and easy to use
- They are constantly improving the website and adding features based on what users want and on customer research

————————————

I've liked using Goodreads, but it's barely improved since I started using it in 2012. The design is outdated and the pages feel cluttered with unnecessary information.

It's nice to finally have an alternative out there that looks and works great, is exciting to use and that focuses around your wants and needs as a reader.

The founders are also super involved with the community. They take suggestions, ask for input and are actively working on making the site even better for the users.

This has gotten long, but if you're still reading: I highly recommend checking it out! It's super easy to set up and if you don't like it you can still easily delete your account (but I don't see why you'd want to do that 😉).
