I'm still waiting for the "gothic" to kick in. I had high hopes when a character died on the first page, and I read eagerly, hoping for ghosts. But none have arrived as yet, and while I sat up in interest when it was suggested that Lady Catherine de Bourgh was a werewolf, the idea was quickly explained away. So, I'm still waiting for something gothic and eerie. Or do I truly not understand what "gothic" means?
