Yes, there's something wrong when the most interesting characters are a sleepy, hair-eating weasel and two guys who haven't appeared in the past 10 (of the nearly 17 read) chapters.

Ok. Some entertaining moments. Getting used to the writing style. But I don't like the Hero. I get that Barnett's trying to pull off damaged but like able, but she's not succeeding. And frankly, I find the heroine a bit mediocre, as well. And by the way, where have the Earl and the Viscount been? We spent an awful lot of time with them for them to disappear.

Good grief, the prose in this thing is repetitive, overwrought, and just plain exhausting. Plugging on...
