Read the first hundred pages of a Samuel Butler edition that’s been on my shelf for a while (or rather reread the first 80) and bounced between his, Pope’s, and Fagles’ version. So I went to the used bookstore looking for Fagles but instead found Barnes & Noble’s Ennis Rees’ Iliad, noticing few differences- weird choices like replacing rout and strife with hatred and force- weird stuff like that.
