Reading online. Enjoyable though very flowery, emotive, overwrought style. Guelf [Orsini family] against Ghibiline [Colonna family] in the 14th century Italy of Petrarch. Rienzi's brother has been murdered so he now lives for revenge. Hitherto he had been a scholar.
