STOP SAYING BOOKS IN A SERIES ARE STANDALONE!!!!! I started this book before I read the first one and by the time I got 1.5 chapters in I went back to read book one. There are so many references to the first book that I knew I was missing out on the deeper story. I’m back and only 36 pages in and there is a reference from how these protagonist met in #1. I would be so lost if I didn’t read the 1st one.
