Phew! It IS quite meandering, and since a major plot twist is revealed at the beginning I just can't make myself care for the characters? Maybe it will surprise me later on, maybe I'm missing something crucial, but oh dear. I've only read positive/RAVE reviews about her writing in general so it's a relief to read your comment
