Chapter 2 on "Spectatorship as drag" is a bit dated and conflates gender identity with gender performance as well as conflating identity with sexuality in a very Freudian way. It was much more academic than I anticipated. Chapter 3 on marketing was very interesting in that women were major target for horror marketing despite the impression that horror films were films "for" men.
