The iron molders started a national strike July 5, 1859, and said: 'Wealth is [a] power... too often used to oppress and degrade the daily laborer. Year after year the capital of the country becomes more and more concentrated in the hands of a few, and, in proportion as the wealth of the country becomes centralized, its power increases, and the laboring classes are impoverished.'
