Saint Phalle was clearly commenting on the machismo and militaristic aggression that shapes the dynamics of masculine power. But her shooting galleries also introduced an element of anarchistic fun into the experience of art.

The word Nana had a number of associations that appealed to her: Nana was Zola’s demimonde prostitute and in current french argot the word corresponded to broad or chick. A nana was the opposite of a well brought up "nice" girl in other words.

Starting the third and last essay of the book, written in the first person by art historian Barbara Rose on her own experience of meeting Niki SP and all the art scene surrounding her. Seems clearly the best and most charming of the three. The images in the book are amazing throughout though.
