From the first, when Megan was attacked, I have had an affinity with her. Her anger is very understandable. Her reactions and decisions are closer to those my little sister would have made, but understandable nonetheless. Now that she has a dog to talk to, it will make her stronger.

This book is also about how a person's values change when we are effected personally by things that we were prone to judge differently when they happened to others others. Judging and condemning others becomes harder when we find ourself confronted with the same weaknesses and trials.
It explores how the spirit of fear chains a person in the worst kind of prison.
