I have the Galatians commentary in this series. I enjoy the “sermon” style commentary read in tandem with a more thorough going technical commentary. How is Phillips writing?

Phillips has been excellent. He’s obviously reading technical commentaries as background, but his goal is sermonic not academic. The “knowledge bombs” he drops are very targeted. Overall the structure of each manuscript integrates systematic, practical, and devotional theology seamlessly. He nicely alternates his illustrations, using both historical and contemporary object lessons too.
