This is much better than I anticipated. Wyndham was an extremely private and shy person and the author did a lot of research to find out personal details. He wrote a lot of letters to his then secret girlfriend during WWII which revealed the horrors of the war through his eyes. It's fascinating to see how his life events influenced his novels and how he based many of the characters on acquaintances.
