The story jumps back and forth between past and present. Jack Angel is psychotic, nonetheless very smart. However, I think he is a sociopath instead as his behavior was more so influenced by his upbringing and change of emotion to his abusive father.

It's gripping. I'm absolutely frustrated at the situation that she is in. Jack is 'squeaky-clean', no-one would suspect him to be the kind of man who is abusive. Especially, being a successful lawyer defending women who are victims in domestic cases.
I am very determined to see how she would get out of this situation - if she gets out of the situation.
