Actually this books was not bad. Deana James is to westerns was Roberta Gellis is to medievals; I was absolutely immersed in the history and feel of the times. Reiver wasn't a bad hero, but this was Mercedes-Maria's story; as usual James writes amazing heroines. I lost interest half way for some reason and messed up the rhythm of the book for me. But all in all, much better than some of the other books I've read.

This one isn't so bad. Mercedes & Reiver are now married, and she's been kidnapped & rescued, they've tamed wild horses & made some money and Reiver is now a respected patron. Decent western, but nothing mind-blowing.
