great book..but just one thing, yeah Kublai Khan WAS the fifth khagan of the Mongol Empire (1260-1294) but it was a technicality as the "Empire" had fragmented in 1259 when Mongke Khan died. The Toluid Civil War followed, a part of that conflict was Kaidu vs Kublai-anyways at the end Kublai was the Khan of the Yuan Dynasty de jure and 5th Khagan de facto. Just saying..anyways this is a very good story so far..

dammit Matt Wagner! Quit with the distortion of history. Khanbaliq was the WINTER capital (Khanbaliq is literally City of the Khan; it also became modern Beijing) and Shangdu (Xanadu) was the SUMMER capital. Polo visited Shangdu not Khanbaliq. Also the Mongol "Imperial" capital was Karakorum, but after the Civil War it was a shadow of it's old self. Again..just saying. One need not fuck up history to tell a story.
