I mean, there's allowing a few anachronisms and Americanisms to slip into your book set in London in the 19th century, and then there's just not even trying to reflect the time and place in your language at all.

Lost patience with this one - mostly because of the absence of any sense that we were in Britain in the 19th century, but also because of the intelligent guy rendered an idiot by his helpless love for someone without much in the way of attractive qualities.
