Jeri Will be interested to hear what you think. Did I recommend Tenant of Wildfell Hall? I really enjoyed that--wrote an essay on it in grad school. It's her 2nd--and better--novel.

Donna Hi, Jeri - Thank you so much for this feedback. You did recommend Tenant of Wildfelt Hall. I will definitely be reading it. In one of my bookclubs we are reading our way through the Bronte sisters (dividing books into 4 sections and discussing just one section at a time). We recently finished reading Wuthering Heights together. We then each watched one of the WH movies (I watched the one from 1939). Tonight, at our meeting, we are making pikelets together. It seems like something that would have been eaten at Thrushcross Grange! :D

Jeri That's an interesting project! Wait 'til you get to Villette and The Professor! They're all such different writers. AG is more like Jane Eyre (though apparently she wrote it first), but she comes into her own with Tenant, I think. For me, she's not as priggish as Charlotte. Had to Google pikelets! : ) In fact, Tenant was as popular as JE when first published, but after Anne died, Charlotte stopped the printing because she thought the book too shocking. I always wondered how much sibling rivalry played a role in that, and what Anne would have thought.

When I was in UK quite a while ago, I went to Haworth. Such a grim place, with the cemetery literally surrounding the parsonage and almost to the door. No wonder they had such a grim world view!

This is a good article, arguing Anne deserves more credit than she gets. In fact, now I need to reread the book! 😀 https://www.theguardian.com/books/201...

Donna Awesome info! Thank you so much.
I greatly appreciate the article and will share it with my Book Club.
Off to make the pikelets now. I will post a quick snap on FB.
