BTW, where did the monopoles come from? Presumably early universe cosmology is different in the Jim Knopf universe, but it would be nice to get the details. Where's that Greg Egan/Michael Ende crossover novel?

This book is so funny! But when I tried to explain one of the hilarious sequences to Not, she sat there stony-faced and didn't even crack a smile.
Is there some kind of software incompatibility thing going on between anglophone and germanophone humor? Perhaps I just translated it badly. But it's amazing how often this seems to happen.
