Ah, yes. My personal experience has been that Tolkien -- both the man and the people who make up his most dyed-in-the-wool fan club -- can be pretty pretentious. There's an idea that he is the deeper, more intellectual, more talented writer than Lewis -- which is utterly laughable, in my opinion as a fan of both but especially of Lewis.

Buuuuuuut if I keep going on this subject I could launch into all my rambling musings on Tolkien & Lewis & their respective "fan cultures". 😅

This comment brought me so much delight while reading it! lol! (I would LOVE to hear all of your rambling musings on the matter :D ) I could not agree more. I absolutely adore Tolkien and his work, but I simply cannot deny the impact that Lewis' writings has had on myself and countless others. His imagination and humble (yet passionate) heart knew no bounds of "intellectual" conformity (Thank the Lord!!)
