Just finished book one. The penultimate chapter was lengthy and repetitive but accurately illustrated the distress of the evacuation. The final chapter brought back the thrill, with a little bit of action, it had me fixed on the pages. A great way to finish this section and hook the reader ready for “Earth under the Martians”.

I’ve just read chapter 10, the Martians have appeared in their tripods and are beginning to walk the earth. Wells strikes such fear into the reader and I can feel this developing into an exciting experience.
