Oof. Had to stop without finishing. I skimmed through and there's some interesting stuff in some later parts of the book - but it's Tosches staples (everyone is measured against Italians, the blues as seen through the lens of Dante's lyrical meter) and while there is some deep research behind this and some poetic language scatted throughout, Tosches' gatekeeping cockiness vastly outweighs any good here.
