Round number three! It feels like longer than a year since I last read this to the kids, but GR tells me it hasn't been.
This time through I expect the plesiosaurs and styracosaurs that snuck into the thumpa thumpa rhythm will be joined by a flock of somewhat less incongruous owls. Not sure if I can fit in DD2's invented superheroines (Super Kitty & Electric Cat) without the older ones noticing something amiss.

Third time through, this time for the younger pair. Previous readings for these two have involved possibly more trochaic tetrameter lines than Longfellow intended in regards to plesiosaurs and kitty cats. They are older now, but I might keep a lynx in reserve.

Round number two of reading the whole poem to the kids. The older pair don't remember any of it from last time, with the exception of "Hiawatha's Childhood", which gets read often from another collection.
