So far, I love the concept and am excited to keep reading. Author writes beautifully, but I can’t get over how unnatural the dialogue seems. This is a child of an undetermined range talking to her grandfather so formally, it’s like 85 random SAT words smashed into a long sentence for no reason.

This character is so contradictory. Idk if this is was meant to be, but this is written like a bad diary entry. All of it. “Oh who am I kidding! Of course i like him” 2 line after saying she doesn’t 🤣

It’s seriously all over the place. It’s like she’s fast forwarding through the character’s life and then pausing on, IMO, inconsequential moments. Why should I care that her grandmother is bringing up someone like Albert? There is zero set up.

I just can’t get into it. The book isn’t flowing right. Everything seems so contrived and obvious when it’s only happening to push the plot forward. This Okem “I will marry you” convo is so cringe.
