This could be her best book - I won’t know until I get a look at the solution to the murder, to see if it is as rewarding as all that precedes it. Next, I will commit to a Spy novel from the 1970s called The Yermakov Transfer...unless I get diverted by a Maigret first.

I think it is the simplicity and the contrast of b&W and one colour that appeals to me.
I dislike the title in quotes, all the time, with this publisher. The rust-red lettering and trim paired with the bold green sure is striking, though. A dead fish on a cover is a bit too dead-fishy for me to really be happy, unfortunately...conjures up that dead-fish smell, especially if it’s been sitting in the sun...that’s an “Uber-ugh” from me.

So far, it’s nothing but fish. Trout, mainly - although one poor soul wants to catch salmon, and it’s all trout, trout, trout.

Oh, no, I love it. I love being immersed in some kind of micro-culture during a Murder Mystery, full of rabid enthusiasts who are mixed in with a few non-enthusiasts who think the real zealots are a bit nuts. And we have a corpse at this point - and not just a trout. It’s pretty good; Harriet Rutland has become a favourite.
I would love, one day, to get your reaction to the wicked, subversive little ending to Blue Murder. Meanwhile, Rutland is going to have to work hardish to top that other fishy Mystery, Scales of Justice by Ngaio Marsh.

Let me check if I already have Blue Murder on the list...
Just, fyi, tho, I have not been in the mood for reading mysteries this year at all. I'm only re-reading Poirot just now because it is part of a group (re-)read.

You cut them right out, with The Big Four being your, uh, big, uh, triumphant...return.
Some years ago, I got really bored with Mysteries, and couldn’t tear myself away from SF, Fantasy, and Horror, to deal with what had become the tiring tropes and formulas that seemed to waft from each corpse. Now, it’s like the reverse, with me! - lately, I have to make myself not read a Crime & Mystery novel. That even includes my beloved Spy genre being neglected. I don’t know what’s happened - and it’s not like the books aren’t running the same clues and tricks and settings...but I’ve really ended up gorged on Mysteries. I must do more Spy novels, finish those Fantasy series I’ve left hanging, find an SF novel that doesn’t mansplain Science when not doing smart-aleck shtick that everyone finds funny but me...
Sigh. Probably Depraved Heart next, or The Pleasure Cruise Mystery...
Heh. Don't knock The Big Four. I know it is ridiculous and one of the "bad" Christies, but I have a soft spot for it being such a totally bonkers story. It's not even that I am bored with mysteries. I just haven't felt like reading them this year. And then, of course, I discovered the Penman books and some other one that just left me wanting more of the same like The Sparrow and its sequel.
I hope you will find a way back to Spy novels at some point. I miss mysteries, or rather the joy of wanting to read them, and I hope that maybe a re-visit of an old "favourite" will help.
I know I’m Perpetual Rude Boy with all my recommendations, but when you finished The Sparrow, and loved it, I thought you might like the following:Grass, by Sheri S. Tepper
Woman on the Edge of Time, by Marge Piercy
and The Color of Distance, by Amy Thomson
I loved them all.
