Surprisingly somber ending to this book, unlike Clark's other books I've read. I suppose that's because Childhood's End isn't how he really feels about space or the limits of exploration. For most of the book, I felt excited to see where the story would go, completely in the dark. Looking back it's like an extended last will and testament. I can't shake the uneasy feeling I have.
