and I'm giving up ….which I NEVER do, but I can't bear the excessive descriptions and the plot's not moving fast enough for me. Too much one character talking to another trying to unravel the mystery. Loved the setting, learning about New Zealand in it's gold rush days, but with an 800 pager, I just couldn't keep going!
