this is just so fun lol, 19 hours in and it's just so fun, like franz and albert get introduced and im like "idc about these random guys!!!" but then suddenly the count goes ** ******'* *** breakfast, and im like oh hohohhoho!!! especially bc of who else is there heehehe, just fun how it all connects lol

also the count hasn't done anything super evil yet so i do not feel bad for saying that i think he is very cool

chapters 82 and 83 are actually goated - so interesting to see the contrast between caderousse and Monte Cristo. MC says Cad is too greedy (while MC has a billion dollars), MC says Cad is too focused on revenge against Benedetto (while revenge is literally the count's whole thing). I loveee how evil the count is in these chapters hehehe

Finished the Rome chapters - I know many people say this part of the book is a waste of time, but it's just so fun! It's better the second time because you KNOW who all the random new characters being introduced are. the luigi vampa stuff seems so unnecessary but it comes back so nicely later that i had so much fun reading about it this time !!!

i just fin part 1 - incredible, so much better the second time, so much foreshadowing, and now it is time for evil Count to emerge. i love so much how part 1 ends:

"and now... farewell, goodness, humanity, gratitude... Farewell all those feelings that nourish and illuminate the heart! I have taken the place of Providence to reward the good; now let the avenging God make way for me to punish the wrongdoer!"
