Very worthy collection of essays by a leading British novelist. The ones on pop culture and avant-garde film were the most interesting to me, the most fun. Writing on works of literature per se slightly less sparkling but still fine enough. I skipped some, and probably won't go back, but look forward to her latest short story collection, Grand Union.
