How do you read 5 books at the same time and remember all of then?

I could never read 5 narrative books at the same time, but with self-development books and similar I find it possible (I take note of important concepts on Word / paper notebook and use them as motivation when I am feeling down). I also don't it all the time, usually I am reading 2 or 3 books at the same time.
(Plus I have been practicing and reading about Buddhism for years, so the short 5th book had nothing "new", it was more of a reminder and a fresh way to look at concepts I already knew).
