Caroline takes such good care of her son Dylan and is wary of Justin. In one scene Justin takes them out to dinner. He tells Dylan that women should be treated like princesses and that men should pay for women.

I thought the person who issued the invitation does the paying. Maybe Caroline should be treated like a princess sometimes, but she has been capable for years of taking care of herself and her son.
