I'd rec you some stuff but I know you've not enjoyed several of my favorites so I might not be the best gauge, LOL. But I see you've read/enjoyed some of S.E. Harmon's books and my favorite of her works is her Spectral Files series if you've not yet read that one! (First book is P.S. I Spook You)

I think my issue is going into some books with just too high of an expectation. I've read books with no expectations and end up liking them just fine. Let me check out P.S I spook you... I like the name lol
Someday Someday by Emma Scott is my favorite standalone that I’ve read in 2021 (so far 😉). It’s not a *lite* read, but if you enjoy books with heavier topics I really loved this one.
