The almost-end-of-it really moved me. When Stephen says he writes because it’s fun, because he just loves doing it.
And also how he was lacking in confidence when he wrote this book. He really shows humility here and I respect that.

It’s great he tells the end of some of his own novels here (at least Carrie’s). I actually like spoilers and I wasn’t very likely to read it — it’s just not my genre.
Also he says about “it’s in your blood”: “those things are really in our genes and DNA patterns” which is a good way of seeing this cliche.
I’m enjoying this now.

Haha, Mr King explained the swearing on the most recent pages I read and I get it now... it’s to do with upbringing, social life and the kinds of characters he’s writing about.
Fair play.
Hopefully I’ll read more tonight. On Writing is a good book, obviously I am a very different person to Stephen, but it’s pointless to compare.

The writing advice given is great, but there was a task (the only task in the book) to write a story about domestic abuse and I don’t think I’ll do it. I’m a YA author and I avoid writing about such things in my work, I understand how it would be a great exercise though.
Also, there’s some swearing.
On the bright side, there are some really good examples, I loved the turkey sandwich one. 😂
