What do you think so far? Is it worth the read? A balanced approach?

So far it's a very basic overview of the Crusades. It gives you the big picture of certain periods with some helpful details, and the images provided are also quite helpful. If you're looking for a very detailed book on the Crusades, this isn't it. But I would definitely recommend it as a general historical survey. If I were to retitle the book, I'd call it "The Crusades: A Very Short Introduction."
