footnote #14 is it really necessary to stop the flow of reading for me to look up what extra information is being explained just to tell me what is not being included. A simple omission is fine, or if you are worried about the dangers of including a chant just change the words or something to make it not "dangerous" but give the reader the same understanding/feeling.

footnote #15...why must this be explained out, can't readers come to this realization/conclusion on their own?

side note, I am reading this as a complete work of fiction. Possibly historical fiction but still fiction first and foremost

footnote #13, first one I bothered flipping to the reference section, result: what? I don't get the reference, if it's supposed to be a reference. As I said the footnotes are a distraction and at least with that one, with no explanation is a waste of time

So far I'm feeling like I'm reading someone's paper where they have to site everything they write about. (due to the numbered footnotes) This might be a nice addition if I had physical copy where I can easily flip back and forth without losing my place. With Kindle (and particularly the app I use, I generally try to avoid any flipping back and forth so the numbers are just a distraction)
