With the course coming to a close, Worthington is now teaching about Alexander the Great. There was a lot of info packed in here leading up to him, first following a biography of his father Philip II. While I definitely will not remember all the names of people and places, nor all the wars mentioned, I have a better understanding of the Hellenistic world for sure.

There are a lot of names to remember but the one that stuck out most was Solon, the "father of Democracy". There are others that came afterwards that deserve that distinction too. I find it fascinating how human beings developed from a roaming band of nomads hunting and gathering and formed civilized (minus the whole lex talionis thing) groups able to assemble and vote and live in general harmony.

Professor Worthington is an excellent teacher! I wonder if he's narrated other courses. He is passionate about ancient Greece and it shines through. Really enjoying it so far.

Supplemental listening to go along with my reading of The Life of Greece. The professor is very articulate and his course is well-structured. He has a pleasant voice and is easy to follow. So far its enjoyable!
