This scene in "To Kill a Mockingbird" reminds me of a similar scene in "The Glass Castle." Scout is wishing how he wants better for his family and believes he is the reason for their problems. Jeannette also believed she was the reason that her family was falling apart, although it wasn't true.

Avery kinda reminds me of an old friend I use to have mainly because she is very indecisive when it comes to what she wants and gets conflicted very easily.

So far this story teaches the readers that every human being deserves to be treated with dignity. It has touched on several topics over things we still see in society today such as injustice, inequality, poverty, racism, corruption and oppression. It enhances the fact that unfair treatment shouldn't exist and all people should be treated with dignity.

When Atticus defended Tom Robinson it made me think of the example he is trying to set for his kids. Atticus defends Tom because he believes in setting an example for Scout, Jem, and others. Atticus thinks it is very important to live in a way that shows Scout how to live by the Golden Rule.

If I were Atticus at this point I would just do what must be done regardless of what the people would do. People in the town are always gonna talk negatively so I say atticus should just go help Tom.

I'm not sure about how I feel about the new neighbors that arrived out of nowhere at Maycomb. Scout mentions how there could be detectives roaming around the area and doesn't appear to fond over the neighbors arrival. This could go in many ways.

When I don't know a word I make sure to check the words around it or check how the character says it if it's in a dialogue. The word in this section was "loafing" which basically means wandering.

Something I learned from the reading is that responding to violence with more violence never achieves anything: two wrongs don't make a right. Atticus explains these things to Scout, we get to see how he values these words as he gets older.

It seems like the title "To Kill a Mockingbird" means and resembles to destroy innocence. Scout explains to Atticus that hurting their neighbor Boo Radley would be "sort of like shootin' a mockingbird.
