Lewis Carroll just spent the introduction to one of his stories fellating the Bible, including commenting on how desirable it would be for a highly edited children's version of the text; "Religion should be a revelation of love; no need to pain and puzzle the young mind with the history of crime and punishment. (On such a principle I should, for example, omit the history of the flood.)" Is this some kind of satire??

I'm skipping out on Bruno and Sylvie for now. The lack of Carroll's signature wit and the ponderous length are not endearing themselves to me right now. Will have to come back to this after I sample some of the rest of his work.
