The selection plus commentary create a sense of an epoch from first emergence of new trends, through crises, to an ultimate twilight and the transition into something new.

I have an impression Mr Zuffi has little patience for Mannerism. Not that I don't see why

Traveller This looks like an interesting book to own, Bloodorange! Did you buy or borrow it?
I tend to be bad when I own such books, though - I just page through them here and there, because I know I have a lifetime to read every page. When borrowing a book from a library, I know I am under pressure to return it, so I tend to actually read more of it then.

Oh, and I see you and I do a similar thing with our reading - we have quite a few books going at a time.
I often don't mark all my finished books as "read" because I simply don't have the time or the courage to review them. :P (Not saying that you do the latter, though, of course)

Bloodorange Hi, Trav! No worries, this comment went more less where it should:-)

This book was a bargain, and I did not hesitate to buy it, especially as arts books take me much longer to read than regular books, so if I find used, cheap copies, or new, but inexplicably cheap (like this one), I buy them without looking back:-) Also, it is really nice, kind of advanced-beginner book.

Quite a few books, yes, scattered throughout the house, during the commute and so on. I do mark my read books as read, and just live with the guilt of not reviewing them:-)
