Since this series was published in the Reader's Digest, it cannot be too graphic. Male reproduction focuses on the manufacture of sperm and it is assumed that readers know how the sperm gets to the egg.

The narrative shifts to Jane's body and Jane is Joe's wife. The description of the womb and ovary is very straightforward. It describes the process from egg to baby to birth without the gory details.

Flying through this pre-read. It is difficulty on the list for our Anatomy and Physiology class next year. Very east to digest--pardon the pun, but I just finished the digestive system. Tee-hee-hee.

More easy to read descriptions of the digestive system. Why do I feel hungry?

Hurray! Halfway done! Still interesting in how it does out interesting tidbits. Just not your typical summer vacation beach read. Ha, ha, ha.

This is well done. The part about the heart has some things about the vagus nerve and anxiety that send me searching for more information. I like that Joe is a smoker and sedentary so that author can factually explain what that does to the body.

So far so good. I have the book at my other house so I am reading the free PDF copy online. It's FULL of errors and you get what you pay for. A friend recommended pairing it with a human anatomy coloring book from Dover Publication for notebooking. It looks like a great pairing.

Finished with the sensory system.

"This common and now widely recognized disorder seems to be due mainly to the shortage of zinc in the body. The zinc is either lacking in the diet, is poorly absorbed or is lost in large amounts following flu or other diseases. Increase the supply and taste comes back."

Wait, what?

I wonder if taking zinc can help people who have lost a sense of taste due to a persnickety virus.
