So far I feel like this is just a love story with a tiny, tiny bit of paranormal thrown in as an afterthought. The main point of the novel (Kate using her powers to find the kid) isn't even on the back-burner, it's in the fridge. I wish that was more of a focus.

I also am increasingly feeling like the author is forcing the characters into a romance just to have a romance. It's very stilted.

Too much telling. The author shows the emotion etc but still feels the need to tell us. It's already shown, don't tell / ruin the emotion.
