It got better around the 200-page mark. It's easier to read, and it feels like the repetitive theme/style of writing is less now, or that could just be because it's easier to read. It's also more interesting now that I'm slightly more invested in the characters. Rating it a 3/5 now instead of my initial thought of 2/5.
