Good grief, how many more pages of this must I endure? The writer tries but tries too hard! All this teasing of some great mystery and I'm more than halfway through. Sula is such a child! I can't for the life of me see how a college boy would see in such a childish girl. I'm tempted to throw this one to the bushes but I hate DNF-ing a book.

Oh, dear. I was hoping I'd like this book... but I'm afraid so far I'm having trouble enjoying it. I don't exactly know why. I like that the character is dark-skinned, Asian and that there were a few of mentions of Malaysia and places close to home. I'm not sure why I can't like it. It feels like reading a fanfic rather than a published book. I am glad that there are many who like it though, based on the GR reviews.
