The first time we saw the Xsanthians back in chapter twelve, they spoke broken English with hissing ‘s’ sounds ( e.g. “We will protessssst”). Now they’re speaking fluent, and quite eloquent English, with no hissing to be found. Maybe this will be explained, but considering how many typos I’ve found already, I suspect Davidson changed his mind about their speech partway through writing the book. Oh well.
